Titusville Area Hospital recently welcomed Moiz Khan, DDS, Site Director, and Lawrence Mauro, DMD, Program Director, with the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine as they begin leading the hospital’s new partnership. Their arrival marks the launch of a long-planned initiative to expand access to quality dental care while training future dental professionals.
Joining Dr. Khan and Dr. Mauro are the program’s first dental residents: Christiana Mather, DMD, Madeline Fox, DMD, and Dakota Volzer, DMD. The dental residency program officially launched on July 1, 2026, with residents currently providing patient care in the existing Dental Clinic located on the first floor of Titusville Area Hospital. The program also welcomed two dental assistant students, with dental hygiene students expected to join for their clinical training in January after completing their hybrid didactic education at Pitt Dental Medicine in collaboration with University of Pittsburgh at Titusville.
Also anticipated this fall is the completion of the new Health and Dental Clinic, located in the former Physical Therapy building (228 East Central Avenue in Titusville). Once the facility opens, the residency program as well as the existing TAH dental providers (Dr. Rockwell, Dr. Lundquist, and hygienist Karri German) will relocate to the expanded clinic, creating a comprehensive teaching environment where dental residents, dental assistant students, and dental hygiene students will work alongside experienced faculty and staff to provide high-quality care while gaining valuable hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of Dr. Khan and Dr. Mauro.

“This program has been a year in the making and represents a tremendous investment in both our community and the future of rural healthcare,” said Lee Clinton, CEO of Titusville Area Hospital. “By partnering with the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, we are expanding access to much-needed dental services while creating a teaching environment that we hope will inspire future providers to practice in our community.”
